Welcome to Parker

The town of Parker was founded in the mid-1860’s. Early explorers, traders, trappers, and gold seekers utilized the nearby trails with small towns and settlements springing up, eventually changing its driving force from gold to land. With the establishment of the Pine Grove Post Office around 1862, settlers had a place to leave messages and receive mail. Many of Parker’s first families were farmers, raising crops and cattle. In 1981 when the town of Parker was incorporated, it only encompassed one square mile and 285 residents. Parker is still known for its unique Western-Victorian downtown area and is committed to maintaining a friendly, hometown atmosphere. Today, Parker has grown to include 21 square miles, more than 56,000 residents, 250 acres of developed park lands, and over 900 acres of open space.
